In a first, Young Readers’ Boat Library launched in the city of joy

Kolkata, Jan 27: The West Bengal Transport Corporation has launched the First Young Readers’ Boat Library. The library has been launched in collaboration with a heritage book store. It has been launched on a boat making it first of its kind initiative. The boat library was launched with the motive that one can read books while appreciating the beauty of Kolkata.

The boat library will cruise on the Hooghly river and provide options for children to choose from a selection of 500 titles in English and Bengali. The library will provide people a three-hour-long trip that will start at Millenium Park. It will travel to Belur Math jetty and then return back.

The boat will be providing three trips on the weekdays. It will provide the free wifi facility as well. The ride will cost Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 for children. It will also host activities like storytelling, dramatized readings, poetry sessions, music and book launches. The West Bengal Transport Corporation in collaboration with a heritage book store in Kolkata has launched the library on a boat on the occasion of Republic Day.
