Amarnath Yatra: J&K LG Manoj Sinha chairs preparatory meeting for resumption amidst Pandemic

Jammu, Jan 6: Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha chaired preparatory meeting of Amarnath Yatra 2021. Sinha called for best-in-class arrangements for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. Lt Governor directed the officers to explore the possibility of setting up a well-equipped and well-staffed Community Health Centre to handle emergency cases.

The LG had chaired a preparatory review meeting of the Amarnath Yatra 2021 at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu. Sinha laid special emphasis on providing best medical facilities to the pilgrims and passed directions for the increase of Accidental Insurance of pilgrims during the Yatra, other than doubling the number of Life saving Ambulances.
 
LG directed the concerned officers to improve utilities enroute, besides repair of roads and other infrastructure well in time and to take all requisite measures and involve more NGOs and religious organisations to ensure smooth pilgrimage and proper facilities for the pilgrims. He has also stressed on dissemination of informative materials and pamphlets in as many languages as possible, including official languages of the UT to reach out to the wider population.

The LG enquired about the role of different stakeholders and their active contribution in the conduct of yatra. He sought for a detailed report on all aspects related to the conduct of the Amarnath Yatra which included routes to the holy cave, terrain, accommodation and tent facilities, medical arrangements, duration of the yatra, weather conditions, registration process and langar arrangements for the convenience of the pilgrims. Chief Secretary BVR Subramanyam and Principle Secretary to LG Nitiswar Kumar attended the meeting.
