US Capitol Siege: Pro-Trump storms US capitol

Washington DC, January 07: For the very first time in history, the US Capitol on Saturday witnessed high voltage drama after 'Pro Donald Trump' supporters stormed the Capitol building in Washington DC. Hundreds of protesters barged into the Capitol Hill premises by bringing down metal barricades at the steps of the Capitol Hill in an attempt to stop the US Congress from ratifying the Electoral College vote that would officially confirm Joe Biden's victory over Donald Trump.

It should be known that the Capitol building houses the US Congress and is the seat of the legislative branch of the US government. The supporters of the Republican President created chaos that resulted in rioting and violence. In the process, supporters of the Republican President also fought with federal police leaving multiple law enforcement personnel injured. Trump supporters overturned barricades and clashed with police on the US Capitol grounds and streamed inside the building.

Violent protesters smashed windows and breached its premises. Protesters had entered House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office as well. Moreover, one woman was shot by law enforcement authorities during the chaos. She is reported to have lost her life. Also, pipe bombs were found at the Republican National Committee’s headquarters. They were detonated after the staff was evacuated.
 
 
The siege come at the point when the US House of Representatives and Senate met in a joint session to certify Joe Biden as President-Elect. The breach by the mob forced members of the House and Senate to suspend a joint session of Congress to certify President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 US election.
  
 
Following that several thousand National Guard troops, FBI agents, and US Secret Service were deployed to help overwhelmed Capitol police. Meanwhile, the Washington DC Metropolitan Police informed that at least 13 persons have been arrested so far and 5 guns were seized.
 
 
After our of the drama, US officials said they successfully secured the Capitol building following a four-hour confrontation with pro-Trump rioters. The Capitol Police is now in the process of dispersing Trump supporters from the site, officials added.
 
 
The police said at least 4 people have died in the incident, including a woman killed in firing and three others who died in medical emergencies. The police have also arrested more than 30 protestors so far for violating the curfew imposed in Washington DC
 
Following the violence Mayor Muriel E. Bowser of Washington issued an order extending the city’s public emergency for 15 days, warning that extremists who support President Trump might continue to wreak havoc in the nation’s capital.
 
Facebook and Twitter has now suspended Trump from posting to their platforms Wednesday following the storming of the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.
