Mumbai, Oct 6: Immortalized on Television as 'Ravan' in Ramanand Sagar's blockbuster mythological drama 'Ramayan', veteran actor Arvind Trivedi passed away in Mumbai on 5 October. He was 82 years old.
The last rites of the actor will take place in Mumbai on Wednesday morning. Apart from playing an iconic role in one of the most loved TV shows, Arvind Trivedi is also remembered for playing a key role in the popular TV show 'Vikram Aur Betaal'. Apart from that, he contributed to Gujarati cinema, too.
In a career spanning over 3 decades, Arvind Trivedi did about 300 films in both Hindi and Gujarati cinema. The film 'Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya', in which he acted as Dadaji, to this day, is considered to be one of the most memorable Gujarati films of all time. It even went on to break many records.

He also enjoyed a short stint in the world of politics. From 1991 to 1996, Arvind Trivedi was a Member of Parliament as a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. Between 2002 and 2003, he also served as an acting chairman for the Central Board for Film Certification.
Talking about the show 'Ramayan', amid the COVID-19 lockdown last year, as the show was re-aired after decades, people immediately fell in love with it all over again as they reminisced the good old days while showering lots of love on the actors.
Sunil Lahri, who played the role of Lakshman in the same serial said that he lost a father figure and a guide in Arvind Trivedi.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, too, took to Twitter to express condolences. He said, "Sad to know about the demise of well known theatre,tv & film actor #ArvindTrivedi ji due to massive heart attack. My heartfelt condolences to his entire family & near ones."
PM Narendra Modi also poured condolences. "We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti."
