Fulfilling duties as always! Union Minister Karad helps co-passenger midair, earns PM Modi’s praise

New Delhi, November 17: In a heartwarming gesture, Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat K. Karad, a pediatrician, saved the life of his co-passenger, who was feeling uneasy, by giving first aid to him on an IndiGo flight.

The incident happened on IndiGo flight 6E171 from New Delhi to Mumbai in the early hours of Monday. Around an hour after takeoff, a passenger travelling on a flight suddenly developed some serious health complaints. After that, the cabin crew immediately asked if there was a doctor on the flight.
 
Hearing the announcement, Dr, Karad rushed to the patient's assistance and provided first aid to the patient. He also gave injections available in the emergency kit of the flight to the passenger. When he was asked about the incident, the minister of State for Finance said the passenger complained of giddiness in mid-air due to a blood pressure issue, and therefore, he reached out and provided first aid.
 
Following that, the photos of the incident went viral on social media. The Indigo airline also offered its gratitude and sincere appreciation to the minister and said his voluntary support for helping out a fellow passenger is ever so inspiring.
 
 
Reacting to that tweet, PM Narendra Modi appreciated the 'great gesture' of the union cabinet minister and wrote, "A doctor at heart, always! Great gesture by my colleague, " on Twitter.
 
 
Besides, PM Modi, several politicians, and union ministers also posted their praise on Twitter.
 
 
 
A Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra, Dr Karad is a surgeon. He also owns a hospital in Aurangabad and has served in several medical positions. Before his election to the Upper House, he served as mayor for Aurangabad.
