Odisha State Transport goes paperless with the launch of citizen-centric online services

Bhubaneshwar, Feb 11: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launched various citizen-centric on-line services of the State Transport department. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the digital initiative will allow freedom to the vehicle owners to choose any transport office of the state for vehicle related services.

The Chief Minister while rolling out the services said long queues in front of the transport offices across the state will soon be a thing of the past because of the state road transport offices going paperless and contactless. Patnaik described the initiative as a kind of liberation for thousands of people.
 
Odisha is the first state in the country to introduce document upload through digital signature, through the NIC platform. The state rolled out nine on line services on virtual mode that includes vehicle registration, auto-approval of goods and contract carriage permits, special permits for buses, online application of international driving permit, renewal of registration and transfer of ownership in any RTO of the state, learners licence through mobile app.
 
 
The Chief Minister stressed the 5T initiative of the state and said that his Govt is committed to provide Citizen-Centric Services in a hassle-free manner through online process, system improvement and automation. Stressing on the importance of Transport sector in our daily life, the Chief Minister added that the vehicle registration process has been made paperless, contactless.
 
The Chief Minister congratulated the Transport Authority for taking the initiative to gain pre-eminence in application of digital technology. Patnaik advised the Transport Authority for providing excellent services that such a huge transforming initiative will create great expectations from people. The Transport Authority should live up to the promised satisfaction level of the people, he added.
