Guwahati, Mar 16: BJP leader and union home minster Amit Shah said that the BJP is contesting the Assam assembly elections on five pillars of security/respect, culture/civilization, peace/dialogue, prosperity/unity and self-reliance/self-dependence for making Assam one amongst the best state of India.

He was addressing the BJP social media volunteers and activists through virtual conferencing at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra on Monday. Amit Shah said that election in a democracy is natural process of electing a new government.

"But when it is election in Assam we must see whether the next government could fulfill the dreams of Srimanta Sankardeva and Lachit Borphukan. Could the government spread the golden voice of music maestro Bhupen Hazarika across the globe? This election is a contest between the BJP and the Congress and Badruddin Ajmal's party AIUDF. Though the fight seems to be triangular, Ajmal is hiding behind the Congress and now it is up to the people of Assam to decide whether they will vote for Congress-Ajmal combine or the BJP”, Shah said.

Taking a dig at Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi’s support to AIUDF, Shah said that it is irony of fate that Gaurav Gogoi, son of the former CM the late Tarun Gogoi, who questioned Ajmal and existence of his AIUDF, is now towing the same line of his party. Congress and Ajmal cannot build a futuristic Assam, Shah asserted.

Shah launched the project called 'Town Hall' while interacting in “Agragami Asom” (Advanced Assam) program. Town Hall can virtually connect with some thousands of people.

Shah said that the BJP will form the nationalist government in Assam to connect it with rest of the country through peace and progr4ess.

“Our aim is not just to form the government and install a chief minister in Assam. Before independence Assam topped the list of the states having highest GDP. We want to make the state to reach that stage once again”, he said,.

In the last five years the BJ government has made Assam free from extremism, infiltration, corruption and agitations. Such menaces ruined the state during the Congress rule. We have built the foundation for massive development in Assam; strong initiatives have been taken to prevent influx from across the border; large numbers of militants have joined the mainstream and surrendered arms. All these achievements will be lost in the wilderness if Congress and Ajmal come to power in the state, Shah warned.
