Kolkata, Mar 18: Beleaguered TMC Supremo Mamta Banerjee finally sought the support of the Communists against whom she had won twice, to defeat the surging BJP in her state. She extended her greetings to Left campaigners for campaigning against BJP with a tagline “no vote for BJP”.

With the BJP making strong inroads and causing massive erosion into the TMC vote banks, the cantankerous chief minister of West Bengal is facing an uphill task to keep her flock together and save the party from the electoral debacle.

She said that it was imperative to stop the BJP from winning elections in West Bengal and appealed to her “left-minded friends” to support her in defeating the BJP. She suggested them that they should not ‘waste’ their vote by casting in favor of the Left Front as the LF would not come to power in the state. Therefore, the ‘left-supporters’ should vote for the TMC, Mamta said while releasing the manifesto of her party on Wednesday.

Dubbing the BJP as a ‘political virus’ Mamta Banerjee said that these ‘outsiders’ with disruptive mentality wanted to disturb the harmony of West Bengl. Therefore, it is necessary for us to thwart this threat. She promised to stand by each and every person of Bengal across all communities to protect their fundamental rights.

However, the CPM and Left Front leaders straight away rejected her appeal and accused the ruling TMC for allowing the BJP to grow in the state during its decade-long rule.

Addressing an election rally at Jhargram and Binpur the tribal dominated constituencies, she said that the BJP would force ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the tribal people and would not allow them to practice their traditional faith.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister and BJP star campaigner Yogi Adityanath told an election rally on Tuesday took a dig at Mamta Banerjee saying that the chief minister used to get angry with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ but now she visited temples and recites ‘Chandi Path’.
