Govt merge Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha into Sansad TV

New Delhi, March 02: In a major development, the centre on Tuesday merged two parliament channels- loksabha and Rajyasabha TV into Sansad Television (Sansad TV). The government further appointed IAS officer Ravi Capoor as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sansad TV for a period of one year.
The release notice said that “Consequent upon the joint decision of the Chairman, Rajya Sabha and the Speaker, Lok Sabha to merge RSTV and LSTV into Sansad Television (Sansad TV)."
“Ravi Capoor, IAS (1986: Assam-Meghalaya) (Retd) has been appointed as the CEO, Sansad TV, on a contract basis, for a period of one year with immediate effect or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” it added.
In November 2019, after deliberations between Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu, a committee headed by former Prasar Bharati Chairman Surya Prakash was formed for the integration of the two channels.
