Indian Army participates in inaugural ceremony of multinational military exercise in Bangladesh

Dhaka, April 5: Indian Army participated in the inaugural ceremony of the multinational military exercise 'Shantir Ogroshena-2021' at Bangabandhu Senanibas, Bangladesh. Chief of Bangladesh Army General Aziz Ahmed inaugurated the training.

This marks the commemoration of the birth centenary of Bangladesh's ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and marks glorious 50 years of liberation. Indian Army contingent of 30 personnel is participating along with the contingent of Royal Bhutan Army, Sri Lankan Army, and Bangladesh Army.
 
 
33 personnel from the Royal Bhutan Army and 30 from Sri Lankan Army are also participating in the event. A total 19 military observers from the USA, the UK, Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Singapore are also attending the exercise.

The aim of the exercise is to strengthen the procedures and enhance interoperability amongst neighbourhood countries to ensure robust peace keeping operations in the region. The armies of all the participating nations will share their valuable experiences and refine their drills & procedures in Peace keeping operations.

The exercise will include discussions with experts on important issues related to military operations and various types of competitions. The training will showcase the state-of-the-art weapons and military gadgets used by the Bangladesh Army in UN peacekeeping missions.

The exercise is being conducted under the overall supervision of the Bangladesh Army. It is expected that this practice will greatly enhance the reputation of Bangladesh abroad. The military training will continue till April 12 at Bangabandhu Cantonment.
