The I&B ministry said that it took the decision after reiterating the leadership role played by private TV channels in spreading messages in the public interest. 'It is, therefore, imperative that all stakeholders take forward the communication strategy with the renewed emphasis on Dawai Bhi, Kadai Bhi (medicines as well as strict preventive measures).'

It is requested that the private channels may appropriately disseminate messages for COVID-appropriate behavior and vaccination of the eligible age group so as to create greater awareness among the citizens of the country, the advisory said.

The advisory cites the meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4th April 2021 to review the emerging situation, where it was decided to focus on a five-fold strategy of Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID appropriate behavior, and Vaccination.

More, interestingly some channel has already started an initiative to create awareness among the people about the vaccine. Private channel SAB Tv's show Wagle Ki Duniya has come up with the tagline "Corona Se Darriye, Vaccine se Nahi" in a bid to clear the misinformation about the vaccine.

It should be noted, that the Indian TV and film industry has played a major role in Polio Campaign. Indian government tagline ‘Do Boond’ helped make India Polio free. And the government is expecting the same result in its corona Campaign.
