EAM Jaishankar to visit the US next week, expected to meet UN Secretary

New Delhi, May 21: To enhance the COVID-19 vaccines cooperation between the US and India, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is going to visit the US on Monday. According to the external ministry, he will visit the United States from 24-28 May.

During his visit, he is going to meet his counterpart Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington DC. They will hold a discussion on various issues including Vaccines, raw material supplies. According to some news agencies Jaishankar is likely to press for further speeding up of the supply of raw materials from the US to boost vaccine production in India.

Jaishankar had met Blinken earlier this month on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers of G-7 countries in London.
 
 
 
Moreover, he will also be meeting Cabinet members and Senior Officials of the Administration dealing with the bilateral relationship. "In Washington DC, the External Affairs Minister will hold discussions with his counterpart Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Besides, Jaishankar will have two interactions with business forums on economic & COVID-related cooperation between India and the US. During the visit, he is also expected to meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York. According to the reports, they will discuss the TRIPS waiver.

Jaishankar's visit has come amid when India is engaged in talks with various US entities involved in Covid vaccines production and is looking forward to procuring and subsequently producing these vaccines.
