Lakshadweep Police files FIR against filmmaker Sultana, for "Bio-Weapon" remark

Kochi, June 11: Taking action against the controversial Lakshadweep filmmaker Aisha Sultana for making hateful comments against the Central govt, Lakshadweep Police has registered an FIR against Sultana on charges of sedition and hate speech. Kavaratti police filed a complaint was registered at the station, based on a complaint from BJP’s Lakshadweep unit president C Abdul Khader Haji.

Kavaratti police have filed a case under Sections 124 A (sedition) and 153 B (hate speech) against the filmmaker for making wild claims that the centre was using Covid-19 as a bio-weapon in the union territory.
 
In his complaint, Khader pointed that Aisha Sultana has spread fake news about the central government and COVID 19. He further added that he has alleged that Sulthana's was an anti-national act, which tarnished the 'patriotic image' of the central government.
 
 
 
During a TV debate, the actress alleged that the central government used biological weapons for the spread of COVID-19 in Lakshadweep.
 
In a debate on the Malayalam channel Media One, Aisha Sultana had claimed, “Before centre took care, Lakshadweep had 0 cases of COVID-19. Now, it is reporting a daily spike of 100 cases. What the centre has deployed is a bioweapon. I can say this clearly that the central government has deployed bioweapon against the people of Lakshadweep.
 
 
Earlier in the day, the BJP staged a protest in the islands seeking action against the filmmaker.
