India reports 1,00,636 new COVID cases, lowest one-day spike since April

New Delhi, June 07: In the positive development, India has started recovering from the fatal second wave of the pandemic, as nearly after 2 months since the second wave took place, the country has witnessed lowest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases. According to the Union Health Ministry data, the country has reported 1,00,636 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking the infection tally to 2,89,09,975. The country has recorded less than 2 lakh Daily new cases for 11 continuous days now.

With that India's active cases have now declined to just above 14 lakh. The daily positivity stands at 6.34 percent. It has been less than 10 per cent for 134 consecutive days while the weekly positivity rate has reduced to 6.21 per cent. The government said that the country has conducted 36.6 crore COVID-19 tests until June 6.
 
 
According to Union Health Ministry, as many as 1,74,399 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 2,71,59,180. The recovery rate has increased to 93.94 percent.
 
 
Moreover, the death toll from COVID-19 rose to 3,49,186 with 2,427 new fatalities. The number of active cases has been less than 2 lakh for the eleventh straight day. Besides, India has administered vaccine doses to more than 23.27 crore people till now.

Amid this, several states including Delhi, Maharashtra have kick started unlocking process from Monday. Meanwhile, Haryana, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka has extended the lockdown in their respective states. The top five states which have registered the maximum Covid cases are Tamil Nadu with 20,421 cases, followed by Kerala with 14,672 cases, Maharashtra with 12,557 cases, Karnataka with 12,209 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,976 cases.
