Thiruvananthapuram, August 16: At the time when Kerala is reporting more than half of the COVID cases in the country, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya arrives in Kerala to review the ground situation in Kerala.
He is slated to hold talks with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Health Minister Veena George, and other health officials. They will discuss the various strategies that were devised on the ground by the health department.
According to the source, he will also visit Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital, the Covid hospital in the district later in the evening.
It should be noted that Kerala has been recording a steady caseload of 20-22,000 cases daily since the past two weeks, accounting for 50% of the new cases and around 47% of the total active cases in the country
This came two weeks after Mandaviya had spoken to Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan over the rising COVID-19 cases in the State. Mandaviya had also written to CM Vijayan, seeking the latter's Government's cooperation in managing the pandemic and urging him to take more proactive measures to control the spread of the virus.
