Kabul, August 19: In the major development, social media giant Twitter has suspended all accounts related to Afghanistan's caretaker President Amrullah Saleh. This comes after the party claimed of becoming the next and upcoming ruler in Afghanistan.
Twitter has suspended operations of Afghan President's official handle - @Afghanpresident and his party Afghanistan Green Trend's (AGT) handle - @AfgGreenTrend. Ever since President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan after the Taliban entered Kabul, Vice President Amrullah Saleh claimed that he is the acting and legitimate President of the Democratic Afghanistan government.
It is important to mention that Twitter has banned the account of Amrullah Saleh and his party, but the Taliban account is active on Twitter. Twitter continues to maintain several accounts of Taliban leaders. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid is active on Twitter and also has more than three lakh followers on Twitter. His followers are also increasing rapidly.
According to Twitter, the account has been suspended after Saleh Party, and all the other accounts were found to be in violation of Twitter's guidelines.
