COP 26 on climate change should ensure balanced outcome: Bhupender Yadav

New Delhi, September 10: The upcoming COP 26 about climate change should be ensuring a well-balanced outcome and equal treatment to all of the agenda items like finance and response measures, said Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Thursday.

His mentioned these in a meeting with Denmark's Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities, Dan Joergensen. The 26th conference of parties, COP 26, of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland in November.
 
 
 
Post meeting, Yadav said in a tweet that he had an engaging and fruitful discussion with his Danish counterpart. His tweet said, “I thanked him for the efforts of the Kingdom of Denmark in the renewable energy sector, especially for the cooperation in setting up the Offshore Clean and Wind Energy Hub in Tamil Nadu.”
 
These two ministers went over the general bilateral co-operation in-between India and Denmark over environment and climate change, said the environment ministry.

Yadav acknowledged the historical, friendly ties between the two countries, in the meeting. He highlighted the contributions of Denmark in the 'White Revolution' in India, because of which, today India is the largest producer of milk in the world, said the ministry.
 
Both ministers held discussions on Green Strategic Partnership (GSP) and the upcoming COP 26 meeting.

The ministry’s statement said that, "Yadav stated that India and Denmark may explore strengthening bilateral cooperation especially on climate change, clean energy, circular economy, and resource efficiency."

Both sides agreed to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation on environment, and also to take forward the discussion on GSP and COP26.
