Correcting the historical wrongs and showing that the country has not only belonged to Mahatama Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru but also some unsung heroes like Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Central government will install a statue of freedom icon Netaji at India Gate in Delhi. PM Narendra Modi made the announcement two days before the freedom fighter’s 125th birth anniversary.
PM Modi announced that till the grand statue of Netaji is completed, a hologram statue of the late great freedom fighter would be installed near India Gate in the national capital. The prime minister said he will unveil Subhas Chandra Bose's hologram statue on January 23, 2022, which is Netaji's 125th birth anniversary. The dimensions of Netaji’s statue would be 28 feet X 6 feet.
Taking Twitter, Modi said, "I am glad to share that the grand statue, made of granite, will be installed at India Gate. This would be a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him.I will unveil the hologram statue on 23rd January, Netaji’s birth anniversary," he posted.
Reacting to the announcement, BJP leader and Netaji's kin Chandra Kumar Bose welcomed PM Modi's decision to unveil Subhas Chandra Bose's hologram statue on 23rd January. The government recently announced that Netaji's birth anniversary - January 23 - would mark the start of Republic Day celebrations instead of a day later.
