New Delhi, Oct 1: In a huge development, dairy giant Amul has signed as the regional sponsor of the Argentina football team for the FIFA World Cup beginning in Qatar on November 20. This is the first regional sponsorship deal in India in the history of Argentine soccer.
In a tweet, Amul said, "#Amul Topical: Amul is the proud regional sponsor of the Argentina football team! @afa", sharing a image Messi and the Aul girl with a caption "Masska For Messi" and "Eat it Argent-ly".
"Amul is proud to announce its association with the Argentina Football Association (AFA)," said Jayen Mehta, COO of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation. In a statement, AFA president Claudio Fabian Tapia said, "We are happy to have Amul being AFA’s first regional sponsor in India."
Amul is one of the most popular dairy companies in the world.
