Was Tipu Sultan a “freedom fighter” who fought the British as alleged by Owaisi?

Recently, a popular train on the Bengaluru - Mysuru route, the Tipu Express, was renamed the ‘Wodeyar Express’ by the Railway Ministry. The move was lauded by Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai stating, "It is an apt recognition of our rich heritage & glorious past."

 

Obviously, the leftists have a problem with it. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi attacked the Centre over this development. "The British were afraid of Tipu Sultan when he was alive. You are disrespecting the legacy of Tipu Sultan who fought for this nation. His legacy will always be remembered.," he said.

 

It definitely raises the question - Was Tipu Sultan a “freedom fighter” who fought the British to free India from colonial rule? According to historical records, he fought the British but did not want to liberate India. He wanted to gain power & ruthlessly eliminate all Kafirs obstructing his dream of becoming Emperor of an Islamic India. Know how-

 

 

Initially, when the British invaded India, Tipu Sultan did not even oppose. He requested them not to support Hindus who were revolting against his Islamic atrocities. The prrof - His letters to the English Company in Tellicherry before Malabar invasion. He had sent a formal request to the English Company at Tellicherry asking them “not to give protection and shelter to Nairs fleeing from South Malabar”. A similar letter had been sent to the English Company in Tellicherry by Hyder Ali Khan in 1764 before he launched his Malabar invasion (Kerala History by A.S. Sreedhara Menon, p. 372). These letters clearly show that neither Hyder Ali nor Tipu was at war with the British.

 

He had unleashed terror against Hindus including Brahmins, Nairs, & Thiyyas. From beheading to kidnapping, forcible circumcision & beef feeding, to convert Hindus to Islam, his genocidal assault did not end. Tipu Sultan’s unspeakably cruel Islamic extremism was apparent when he told his army to circumcise even the DEAD CORPSES of Coorg’s Hindus. Only a genocidal terrorist, not a freedom fighter would commit such unspeakable atrocities against his own countrymen, in the name of his religion.

 

Apart from this, his Manifesto proclamation sends down chills as he had asked all Muslims of India to unite & destroy Kafirs in a holy war to ensure Islam's victory. He had even asked for help from French and said that he will give half of the Indian territory to the French, in exchange for help against the British. He also begged the French for money & weapons to fight his battles. Who does that?

 

 

To gain more support, he also sent envoys to Turkey, Iran, Oman, Mauritius & Afghanistan, to ask them to join him in this Jihad by them a part of Indian territory. First, Tipu begged the Turkish Khalifa for support to gain legitimacy. In return for control over Basra port, he was willing to give Mangalore to the Turks. Secondly, he invited Zaman Shah 1792, grandson of Ahmad Shah Durrani, to invade Delhi & North India. The plan was for Afghans to conquer Delhi, then Tipu would join them & the united Islamic army would march to the Deccan to overthrow the Marathas & British "infidels".

 

After overthrowing the British, Tipu planned to divide India between the Prince of Iran, Zaman Shah of Afghanistan & himself, into Islamic dominions. So, his ultimate goal was to exterminate or convert all Hindus to turn India into an Islamic nation ruled by him as Badshah.

 

He is nothing but a terrorist and one should think before worshipping such a cruel personality. One wonders why Owaisi idolizes him.
