Paris, Oct 31: Ace men's doubles Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty bagged the biggest title of their career, as they won the French Open Super 750 with a straight game against Chinese Taipei's Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han in the men's doubles final here on Sunday night.

The Indian badminton team defeated Chinese Taipei's Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han 21-13, 21-19 in the final that lasted for 48 minutes. Earlier, in the quarter-finals, the Indian duo had eliminated the top seeds from Japan, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi.

Additionally, this was the first time an Indian men's doubles team won the French Open badminton championship since Partho Ganguli and Vikram Singh's victory in 1983.

The Indian pair has been rising consistently. Despite the fact that their previous three victories on the BWF World Tour came in lower-level competition, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won this French Open one. The Thailand Open 2019 and the India Open 2022 were both Super 500 competitions, while their first, the Hyderabad Open 2018, was a Super 100 competition.

Apart from this, the in-form Indian couple also won the Commonwealth Games championship earlier this year in Birmingham. And one should also note their amazing victory at Thomas Cup as well as claiming bronze at the World Championships in August.
