Hyderabad, November 22: An Income Tax raid was conducted at Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) minister Chamakura Malla Reddy's residence for alleged tax evasion. The searches were carried out in several locations related to that of the Telangana Labour Minister including the residences of his son Mahender Reddy and his son-in-law Rajashekar Reddy.

Notably, Reddy is an MLA from the Medchal assembly constituency who runs many educational institutions in his house. The IT department officials were seen at Malla Reddy university, his office, and other locations belonging to TRS Minister Malla Reddy. The searches began at 5.30 AM this morning.
As per sources, about 50 teams from the IT department's tax evasion wing began the searches early Tuesday morning in various areas-- Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri districts, Palm Meadows villas at Kompally. About 150 to 170 officers carried out simultaneous searches at the TRS minister's house and the properties of his family members.
Income records of the institutions run by Malla Reddy Group following allegations of tax evasion were examined.
The Malla Reddy Group runs multiple educational institutions which include a medical college, a hospital, a dental college, and an engineering college. The IT teams also raided the offices and residences of the top officials of the educational institutions and it is likely to continue throughout the day.
