Anushka Sharma slamming Puma India was a promotional stunt but is it correct?

On Monday, Anushka Sharma took to social media to slam sportswear brand Puma for using her images ‘without permission’. The company’s Instagram handle shared a post featuring multiple images where Anushka can be seen dressed in their clothing.

 

Soon after this, the actor asked Puma India to take down their post since they did not take her permission prior to sharing it on their page. Anushka took to her Instagram story and shared the post featuring herself, writing, “Hey Puma India, I am sure you know that you have to take permission before you can use my imagery for publicity since I am not your brand ambassador. Please take it down,” she concluded her post with two angry emojis.

 

 

 

 

 

Several fans of Anushka Sharma bashed the brand creating storm on the internet. However, things go fishier when Anushka’s husband and cricketer Virat Kohli has also liked the Puma post. And Puma India took to their official Instagram handle and posted a picture of what appears to be a contract. The image mentions "Puma x Anushka" and has a "confidential" stamp on it. Along with the photo, the company wrote, "Hey @anushkasharma, we should've reached out sooner! Should we take things to the next level, then? "

 

 

After the brand responded, the actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video of herself speaking about the brand’s ‘proposal’ after she told them to take down her photos as she was not their brand ambassador. Social media users were quick to point out that all this was a promotional gimmick used by the brand to create online buzz; while some called it ‘lame’, others said the strategy was ‘on point’.

 

 

The video shows Anushka getting her hair and makeup done and speaking out loud as she sat in front of a mirror inside a vanity room. She was also seen looking at her hairstylist and makeup artist in between as she shared her views on working with the brand. Anushka wrote in the caption of her Instagram Reels, “Considering @pumaindia ’s proposal… What say?”
