Goa’s rich culture is one of the most alluring factors that the beautiful state has. Heritage conservation and promotion have been a key priority of the state government, since these form a key part of its glorious history. There are several efforts being put up to bring back Goa's glory.
Similarly, here are some of the vital efforts of the BJP taken to restore and conserve this rich heritage which Goa has to offer:
Restoration of Reis Magos Fort: When Manohar Parrikar was the Chief Minister of Goa, he had inaugurated the restored fort in June 2012. The renovation work of the fort started back in 2008. The restoration of the fort was completed, at a cost of Rs. 3.5 crores. Parrikar had sought to initiate an effort to restore the fort in his first stint as being the Chief Minister. His late uncle too, was jailed in this fort.
Aguada Fort Jail Museum: The re-development of Aguada Fort Jail Museum as a Heritage Tourism destination under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, has been done at a cost of more than Rs. 28 crores. Before the liberation of Goa, Aguada Fort was used to incarcerate and torture the freedom fighters. The Museum will highlight the contributions and sacrifices made by the prominent freedom fighters who fought for liberation of Goa and will be befitting tribute to them.
Restoration of St. Lawrence Church: Restoration and repair work of the 17th century St. Lawrence Church at Sinquerim is also underway. The restoration work of the Saptakoteshwar Mandir in Narvem, Bicholim has also been underway since 2020.
Restoration of Cabo de Rama fort: The restoration of this fort is now being done by GTDC, at an estimated cost of Rs 29.7 crore. The fort has been a popular tourist destination, but was neglected for a long time. A few parts of the fort were giving away due to low maintainance. Once renovated, the touristic value of the historic structure is expected to enhance substantially as it falls within the Canacona circuit of Khola, Palolem, Agonda and Rajbag beaches, and also has good connectivity.
The restoration of forts at Khorjuve and Chapora and also currently under progress. The Khorjuve fort is a multi-crore project and will take a year to complete. It is estimated to be completed by January 2023. Amenities have been added here, of state-of-the-art calibre. The directorate also plans to erect an amphitheatre outside the fort.

The restoration of the Alorna fort is also underway, which is estimated to cost Rs. 67 lakh and will enhance its appeal with the reconstruction. The state government is also renovating the forts and temples built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. These are some of the prominent restoration works which are underway in Goa. The heritage and culture of Goa were totally ignored by INC. It was on the verge of being cheated off Goa's heritage! Hence, the most important restorations taking place in Goa currently, are the 17th century St. Lawrence Church at Sinquerim, Saptakoteshwar Mandir in Narvem, Cabo de Rama fort, Forts at Khorjuve, Chapora Fort and Fort of Alorna.
