The satellite images from US technology firm Maxar Technologies revealed that the Russian military convoy that is advancing from the north of Kyiv is substantially longer than the previously reported figure of 27 km.

The vast convoy included armored vehicles, tanks, artillery and support vehicles. As per the latest update, the convoy was 17 miles (25 kilometers) away from the center of Kyiv. The Maxar photos also showed the deployment of ground forces and helicopter units in southern Belarus, which is to the north of Kyiv. The convoy was approaching the Antonov airport on the outskirts of Kyiv, which remained under government control after days under Russian assault, according to The Independent.

Russian forces shelled Kyiv, Ukraine's capital and second-largest city, on Monday, rocking a residential neighborhood, as talks aimed at stopping the fighting yielded only an agreement to keep talking. The country's embattled President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the stepped-up shelling was aimed at forcing him into concessions. “I believe Russia is trying to put pressure [on Ukraine] with this simple method," Zelenskyy said late Monday in a video address. He did not offer details of the hours-long talks that took place earlier, but said that Kyiv was not prepared to make concessions “when one side is hitting the other with rocket artillery”.
