New Delhi, Mar 28: In a shocking development, a Delhi court granted bail to the 'Bulli Bai' app case accused Niraj Bishnoi and 'Sulli Deals' app creator Omkareshwar Thakur on humanitarian grounds. The court stated that the accused are "first-time offenders" and "prolonged incarceration would be detrimental to his overall well-being".
 
The court considered that the accused are first-time offenders and continued incarceration would be detrimental to their overall wellbeing. "The necessity for continued incarceration is not made out in the backdrop of filing of charge-sheet. Accused has roots in the social community and he is not a flight risk. The trial would take considerable time to save as such no fruitful purpose would be served by keeping him detained any further", it added.

On the other hand, the court had imposed strict conditions on the accused persons so that they could not threaten any witness and temper any evidence. The conditions include that the accused person would not try to contact, influence, induce any victim.
 
The accused person would not tamper with evidence, would provide his contact details to Investigation Officer and would keep his phone switched on and would provide his location to IO, said the order. The accused persons would not leave the country and would appear before the court on each and every date, would not commit a similar offence while on bail, stated the order.

In March, the Delhi Police had filed charge sheet against two accused Aumkareshwar Thakur and Neeraj Bishnoi, who were allegedly running the "Sulli Deals and Bulli Bai mobile apps to auction Muslim women in the virtual space". The cops also nabbed Vishal Jha, Shweta Singh, Mayank Rawat, and Neeraj Bishnoi from Bengaluru, Uttarakhand, and Assam respectively in the Bulli Bai app case.
 
In July 2021, the 'Sulli Deal' app was allegedly created on the Github platform to auction Muslim women. The matter came to light when Delhi Police took suo moto cognizance of the case. The Delhi Police were investigating the case for the last few months but the first arrest in the Bulli Bai app was made by nabbing the alleged mastermind Niraj Bishnoi from Assam's Jorhat. The investigation by the Delhi Police revealed that the alleged Bulli Bai mastermind Niraj Bishnoi and Aumkareshwar Thakur were virtually connected over the internet through chat rooms.
