Confluence of Dogri and local ethnicities at Jammu Heritage Festival

Jammu, Apr 16: The Directorate of Tourism, Jammu organized a mega one day Jammu Heritage Festival, on the occasion of Baisakhi at Bhimgarh Fort, in J&K's Reasi on Apr 13. A large number of tourists especially from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Kolkata, Punjab and Karnataka.

The event was a confluence of local Dogri art, ethnic cuisines, cultural performances, local craft, pottery making, ethic dress display and many fun activities to engage the visiting tourists and showcase indigenous culture. DDC Chairman Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag, Deputy Commissioner of Reasi, Babila Rakhwal inaugurated the Jammu Heritage Festival at Bhimgarh, Reasi.

The festival started with the remembrance of General Zorawar Singh (important Dogra military General of Dogra ruler Gulab Singh), followed by a heritage walk, Nukkad Natak by Vomedh, Heritage exhibition, Dogri folk dances, and many more similar interesting artistic events that exhibited the true essence of the local culture.
 
The Jammu Heritage Festival was intended to showcase local art, culture, artifacts, ethnic cuisine to the tourists visiting the Darbar of Mata Vaishno Devi. The festival is a major attraction for the tourists who visit Katra Shivkhori circuit throughout the year.
