Is Ansar, prime accused in Jahangirpuri violence, an AAP leader?

Ansar has been named as the prime accused in the Jahangirpuri violence that broke out between two groups on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday evening, along with 13 other suspects. According to the Delhi police, Ansar was found to be previously involved in two cases of assault. The violence had left police personnel injured.

In a recent development, there have been several pictures going viral about the accused. They have claimed that Ansar is part of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Punit Agarwal, Head of BJP IT Delhi, said in a tweet, "The main accused of Jahangirpuri is Kejriwal's pet goon. Last time too, Kejriwal's goon Tahir Hussain had a hand in the riots."

 

 

 

Delhi BJP leaders including Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta and party MP Manoj Tiwari said the “attack” on the procession was “not a spontaneous incident, but a conspiracy”. Along with Ansar, Aslam have been directed by a court to be remanded to one-day police custody, while 12 other accused have been sent to jail in judicial custody. In fact, in this case, the police stated that the main conspirators of these riots are Ansar and Aslam.

Deputy commissioner of police (Northwest) Usha Rangnani said an FIR was registered on Saturday under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 147 (rioting) and other relevant Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act sections. Reports suggest that Union home minister Amit Shah also spoke with Delhi Police commissioner Rakesh Asthana and Depender Pathak over Jahangirpuri violence and asked them to maintain law and order.
