Rohingya : pitiful or threatening? Jahangirpuri Riots raises concerns about migrant policy in NCR Delhi

Out of the 20 persons accused in the Jahangirpuri riots case, 14 were produced in the Rohini court on Apr 17. Followed to the proceedings, two prime suspects of the case "Ansar and Aslam" were sent to police custody for one day.

New Delhi, Apr 18: Clashes broke out between two groups in Delhi's Jahangirpuri after stone pelting incidents were reported. Delhi Police has filed a case against the 20 accused, followed by which Ansar and Aslam were found to be prime suspects in Rohini Court.

Out of the 20 persons accused in the Jahangirpuri riots case, 14 were produced in the Rohini court on Apr 17. Followed to the proceedings, two prime suspects of the case 'Ansar and Aslam' were sent to police custody for one day. The remaining 12 were sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
 
 
 
 
 
About the riots, Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta has alleged that the violence was an outcome of the AAP govt aiding illegal stay of Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants in the NCR. At the same time, the ruling party in Delhi, AAP alleged that BJP was responsible for the violence during the Hanuman Jayanti procession Jahangirpuri.
 
A letter petition has also been filed before the CJI Justice NV Ramana urging him to take suo moto cognizance of the Jahangirpuri violence in Delhi. Advocate Amritpal Singh Khalsa said in his letter, "Delhi Police investigation has so far been partial, communal and directly shielding perpetrators of the violence." He further added, "This is the second time that riots have erupted in Delhi in two years, and on both occasions , members of minority community (referring to the Rohingya) are to be blamed."
