Sri Lanka Crisis: Gotabaya appoints new cabinet to deal with economic failure

Colombo, Apr 18: Amid the ongoing political crisis in Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed a new cabinet to deal effectively with the ongoing crisis. The cabinet will be small in size for smooth functioning.

While the island nation is being constantly bombarded with civilian protests, Sri Lanka's new cabinet will be swearing-in today (Apr 18). President and Prime Minister will continue on their positions, besides, new and young faces will be prioritized in the new cabinet considering the ongoing protests.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has told his political allies to constitute a limited cabinet to run the govt. The entire Sri Lankan cabinet had resigned in April first week, as the island country is facing the most severe crisis and also in consideration of the protests.

The cabinet is being constituted ahead of the Parliament session. The Sri Lankan cabinet will be meeting on Apr 19 with the new Cabinet ministers and opposition is likely to step up pressure on the govt, as it is already mounting on because of the protests.
