Lviv, Apr 19: Russia's army on Monday said it had destroyed a large depot of foreign weapons recently delivered to Ukraine near the western city of Lviv.
Russian planes in the morning struck a Ukrainian logistics centre holding "large batches of foreign weaponry, delivered to Ukraine over the past six days by the United States and European countries", and "destroyed" them, Russian defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
Konashenkov also said a store of ammunition was destroyed in the Kyiv region. Russia's warplanes bombed Lviv and its missiles struck Kyiv on Saturday, as Moscow followed through on a threat to launch more long-range attacks on Ukrainian cities after the sinking of its Black Sea Fleet flagship. Russia said it also struck a military vehicle repair factory in Mykolaiv, a city close to the southern front. The attacks followed Russia's announcement on Friday that it would intensify long-range strikes in retaliation for unspecified acts of "sabotage" and "terrorism", hours after it confirmed the sinking of its Black Sea flagship, the Moskva.
