Gandhingar, Apr 5: There seems to be no end to the discontent among the members of the Congress. Amid the problems in Punjab and Jharkhand, late Congress leader Ahmed Patel's son Faisal Patel from Gujarat has now expressed his displeasure at the party's stance towards him. He said he is "tired of waiting".
He said the top brass of the Congress was not encouraging at all. His displeasure comes at a time when less than a year is left for the Gujarat election. Declining to comment further on the matter, Faisal Patel told India Today: "I said what I had to in the tweet." However, soon after his tweet on Tuesday, April 5, a 2021 picture of him with Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal went viral. This sparked speculation of him leaning towards the AAP and fighting the Gujarat Assembly election in December on an AAP ticket.
Faisal, who is yet to join electoral politics, had earlier said that he would join the Congress' election campaign in Bharuch and Narmada districts in Gujarat, from April 1. He, however, pushed back the campaign due to Ramzan.
This comes a day after Congress leader Ravneet Singh Bittu met PM Narendra Modi. Ravneet Bittu was disillusioned by the party high command during and after Punjab assembly elections. He was critical of PCC chief Navjot Singh Siddhu and CM Channi as well. Bittu was close to Congress leader and former president Rahul Gandhi, but was later sidelined by the leadership.
