Sharad Malhotra felicitated by Home Minister Amit Shah for his performance in Vidrohi

Vidrohi is based on the times of the pre-independence British Era and shows the life-journey of Odia freedom fighter Bakshi Jagabandhu.

New Delhi, April 8: Actor Sharad Malhotra was honored by Home Minister Amit Shah for his portrayal of Bakshi Jagabandhu in the series 'Vidrohi'. The event was organized by Odia Samaj, in recognition of bringing the true story of India's first Rebellion against The East India Company. The popular television show was screened for the attendees.

The event was held at the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in Delhi. The cast of the show was present here at the event. Sharad Malhotra is famous for his roles in Kasam, Naagin and Banoo Main Teri Dulhann.
 
 
British-Indian actor Danny Sura was also honoured by Amit Shah for his role of Jeffrey Fletcher from Vidrohi.

Vidrohi is based on the times of the pre-independence British Era and shows the life-journey of Odia freedom fighter Bakshi Jagabandhu. It is set in Odisha 1817, in the backdrop of Paika Rebellion, Bakshi Jagabandhu, a rebel fights for the rights of his citizens against the British Era.

Apart from the rebellion, the story also narrates his personal life - his marriage to Radhamani. However, due to the latter being unable to conceive, she forcefully marries Bakshi off with Warrior-Princess Kalyani, to take the generation forward.
