Alappuzha, May 20: Secularism is at its peak in Kerala as, despite intelligence reports, the CPI (M) government permitted the Popular Front of India (PFI) to hold a rally in the Alappuzha district on Sunday. The same government, however, has denied permission for the Bajrang Dal rally, citing security concerns.

As per the reports, PFI is planning to hold the rally on Sunday in Alappuzha. It should be highlighted that the state government has banned all vehicular traffic in and around the district, except those carrying PFI cadre. Moreover, the local administration has also decided to open the police ground and the beach for vehicles carrying PFI workers.

The district police chief is overseeing all arrangements for the PFI meeting. The shocking decision comes even after the Intelligence ADGP informed the government that any such PFI rally will lead to security failures and violence.

It should be noted that Alappuzha is a particularly sensitive location. In the last 6 months, 2 RSS workers have been hacked to death by PFI workers in Alappuzha. The extremist rally comes at a time when the PFI killers of RSS Mukhya Shikshak Nandu and OBC Morcha state secretary Adv. Renjith Sreenivasan are roaming free in Alappuzha. The rally will take place within half a kilometre of Sreenivasan’s house.
