According to the latest updates, the newly launched online portal aims to streamline the entire process of recognition of teacher education programs of HEIs and TEIs, right from the time of inviting applications for courses till the stage of issue of recognition orders including the inspection of institutions. The applications for the recently launched 4 Year ITEP (Integrated Teacher Education Program) applications will be processed on this portal.

The new portal will bring a paradigm shift in the functioning of NCTE. It aims to provide an automated robust framework thereby enhancing accountability, transparency and ease of doing business. Online applications for ITEP will be processed by NCTE through ‘Admin Login’ of the website (https://ncte.gov.in/Website/admin_Panel.aspx). All communication from HEIs and TEIs regarding deficiencies and SCN will correspondingly have to be sent on the ITEP portal. For online inspections, stakeholders have to access the VT portal on NCTE website.

The 4 Year ITEP, that was recently launched will be available for all students who choose teaching as a profession after secondary, by choice. Education ministry's integrated course will benefit students since they will save one year by finishing it in four years rather than the customary five years required by the present B.Ed. plan. The 4 Year ITEP is a milestone achievement in fulfilling one of the major mandates of National Education Policy 2020.
