Punjab police make first arrest in Moosewala murder case

New Delhi, June 01: In a major development in the Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case, Punjab Police made the first arrest in connection with the popular singer's sensational murder case and detained Manpreet Singh from Uttarakhand. The court has sent him to five days of police remand.

The accused, Manpreet, was among the six people detained by the cops in a joint raid in Dehradun on Monday. Manpreet has been accused of supplying vehicles to the assailants who were involved in the killing of Moosewala.
 
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead on Sunday. One Canada-based Goldy Brar, who is a member of the Bishnoi gang, had claimed the responsibility for the murder. As per the initial post-mortem report, Moose Wala was hit by around 25 bullets and gunpowder was also found on his body.
 
The presence of gunpowder on the singer’s body indicated that shots were fired from very close range and the weapon was brought close to his body. The incident took place at 5.25 pm and the police got information at 5.50 pm about the attack on the singer.
 
The state police had termed the incident as a case of an inter-gang rivalry and had said the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the murder of Moosewala. Punjab Police have registered an FIR in Mansa against unknown persons under sections 302, 307, and 341 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
