On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, NewsBharati has come up with an initiative to celebrate India's Independence. We have tried to attempt to introduce 75 Legendary Women of India who have made immense contributions in their respective fields.
"Rani Gaidinliu" is our first legend of the series, had led an armed uprising against the British in Manipur, Nagaland, and Assam. At the young age of 13, Gaidinliu joined the Heraka movement, which aimed to revival of the Naga tribal culture and establish self-rule of the Nagas, ending British rule.
Again at the age of 16, Rani Gaidinliu was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment by the British rulers.
Rani Gaidinliu is the first among 75 legends that Newsbharati is celebrating on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav; because India didn't achieve independence overnight!"
