After Nabanna Chalo's success, Sukanta Majumdar announces BJP' s 'Jail Bharo Andolan'

Kolkata, Sept 15: West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday (Sept 14) said that the party will start 'Jail Bharo Andolan' after Durga Puja against the govt. Majumdar also rejected West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's claim and accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) party workers of violence that occurred on Tuesday (Sept 13) in Kolkata.

"TMC made people infiltrate our campaign and foment violence. Police provoked it too and stopped people at railway stations. We will start 'jail bharo andolan' after Durga Puja," BJP WB chief said. Whereas earlier on Wednesday (Sept 14), Mamata Banerjee accused BJP workers in the state of indulging in violence during protests against her govt and said action will be taken against those creating nuisance.

"People were harassed and public properties vandalized and destroyed. You can't have goons and bombs brought in, in the name of protests. Remember, police and fringe elements cannot go together. No anti-social activity will get any cover under the garb of politics, the police will take action if that happens," Banerjee said.

However, the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday (Sept 13) sought a report from the West Bengal Home Secretary over the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'Nabanna Abhijan' by Sept 19. The High Court also directed Kolkata Police not to illegally detain any person and also ensure that there is no damage to public property.
