Sakal Hindu Samaj stages protest, demands law against 'love jihad'

Pune, January 23: Members of Sakal Hindu Samaj on Sunday staged a protest in Maharashtra's Pune against cow slaughter, 'love jihad' and religious conversions. The march titled 'Hindu Jan Aakrosh Morcha' began at Pune's Lal Mahal and culminated in the city's Deccan area.

Sakal Hindu Samaj has urged the government to form laws against the killing of cows, 'love jihad' and religious conversions. Earlier Hindu organisations staged a 'Jan Aanch' march in Maharashtra's Kolhapur against 'love jihad', alleged illegal conversions and cow slaughter.
 
The programme was set on the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s martyrdom day as ‘Dharmaveer Din’.
 
 
 
Maharashtra BJP MLA Shivendra Raje Bhosale, Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh Thakur, descendants of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Shivajirao More and Shirish More, Dhananjay Desai, Swapnil Naik of Patit Pawan organization, Kishore Chavan of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, history scholar Nilesh Bhise, Mahesh Pavle of Raje Shivarai Pratishthan, leaders of various Ganeshotsav manuals and others participated in the march.
 
Shivendra Raje, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, said, “This march is being held today to break the fear in the Hindu society. Such rallies have been organised in every taluka. We hope the state and central government will take note of the demands of the people.”

He added, “Protection of religion was also part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s establishment of Swarajya. We are not against anyone, we are defending our religion. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is known in history as a religious hero. Therefore, I am of the opinion that this should not be questioned.”
