This facility will not only serve Thales' renowned Indian clients, Air India and IndiGo, but will also serve other airlines from neighbouring nations. Pascale Sourisse, President and CEO of Thales International, has highlighted the company's ambitious aim to quadruple its present staff of 1,500 engineers in India over the next three years.

While the precise investment number for the future MRO facility specialized to avionics and in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems is unknown, Sourisse stated that the initial phase will see tens of millions of Euros invested.

Thales intends to supply the technology to create a biometric-based "DigiYatra" for the Adani Group's 'flight to gate solution' at airports owned by the company.

Furthermore, conversations with Air India are continuing regarding the IFEs required for their large aircraft purchase, with the closeness of the MRO facility in Delhi NCR providing a considerable benefit.

Thales is present on a worldwide scale in three key areas: avionics, military, and digital identity/cybersecurity.

This broad footprint extends to India, where Thales plans to contribute to the future of mobile technology by providing e-SIMs. These digital SIM cards are likely to replace physical ones, reflecting the changing telecoms landscape.

Thales now employs 2,000 people in India, 1,500 of them are engineers. The company has a large facility in Noida with 1,000 engineers and another 500 engineers in Bengaluru.

It is also worth noting the company's involvement in outfitting Airbus commercial aircraft, such as the A320, A330, and A350, with a comprehensive flight management system (FMS) that improves data access and minimizes carbon emissions.

A large percentage of this system's development takes place in India, taking advantage of the country's supply of highly trained engineers.

Thales' contributions to the aviation sector include avionics for Airbus planes used by IndiGo and Air India, as well as IFE technology and in-flight networking solutions.

The decision to open an MRO facility in India was motivated largely by the desire to serve major clients in the area as well as cater to the developing aviation sector. India now has the fastest-growing aviation market in the world and is the world's third-largest market.

Thales has ambitious ambitions for development in India, including joint ventures with Bharat Electronics for radar systems and Reliance for defence efforts.

Thales, as one of the top five worldwide cybersecurity organizations, intends to increase its footprint in this area, with its Noida engineering centre serving as a focal point for this expansion.

Finally, Thales' commitment to building an MRO facility in India demonstrates the company's commitment to effectively supporting its clients and expanding its operations in an area with great development potential.
