New Delhi, Oct 19: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said that the Ministry has set a target of investing Rs 80 lakh crore in the maritime industry during the next 25 years. Speaking to media, Sarbananda Sonowal said that if an investment of Rs 6 lakh crore can be made in two days during Global Maritime India Summit 2023 then why can't it be Rs 80 lakh crore during the next 25 years?

Union Minister Sonowal was speaking to the media on Signing of MoUs during 2 days. Union Minister Sonowal further said that Investment on such a large scale could never have been thought of before 2014 and it was never even thought of in the port sectors. There was no discussion or work that had been done during the Congress rule. Now India is the leading maritime nation due to the progressive vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister added that the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 9.5 years, he has adopted the policy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and through this, 140 crores of Indian citizens have worked to show their strength in different sectors and as a result, the country has gained momentum in the journey of development.
