The NAREW project will provide Poland with a cutting-edge mobile air defense system capable of coping with contemporary and future threats at ranges more than 40 kilometers, utilizing the CAMM-ER missile developed in collaboration between the United Kingdom and Italy. The Polish Armament Agency awarded the executive contracts for NAREW to the PGZ-NAREW Consortium in September.

The agreement will result in the production of over 1,000 Common Anti-Air Modular Missiles Extended Range (CAMM-ER) and over 100 iLaunchers.According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the agreement would strengthen European security in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"The scale and ambition of NAREW is truly impressive — building a Polish air defence shield using our CAMM family missiles and iLaunchers that will protect the entirety of Poland's skies," Eric Béranger, chief executive officer of MBDA, stated.

"The transfer of technology in NAREW will be transformative for Poland's sovereign complex weapons capabilities, and we are deeply proud of the trust placed in us by Poland and excited for the future of our partnership with the eleven members of the PGZ-NAREW Consortium."

NAREW is the latest in a series of air defense projects in Poland that MBDA and PGZ have jointly contracted for using the CAMM missile family.

It follows the Mala Narew urgent operational requirement contract, which was awarded in 2022 and is currently in service, the PILICA+ short-range air defense system, which was awarded earlier in 2023, work on the MIECZNIK frigate program, and studies for future cooperative development of CAMM-MR. Furthermore, MBDA and PGZ are collaborating on the OTTOKAR BRZOZA tank destroyer project.
