Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd announced on Friday that they have joined forces with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd to establish 7,000 charging stations.
According to TPEM, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the two companies to work together in setting up public charging stations all over India.
This collaboration will utilize Bharat Petroleum Corporation's extensive network of fuel stations and TPEM's knowledge gained from their 1.15 lakh Tata EVs currently on Indian roads, to install chargers at locations frequently visited by Tata EV owners.
BPCL has set a target of installing 7,000 electric vehicle charging stations by next year and has already taken the first steps by launching over 90 fast-charging highway corridors across the country, as mentioned in the statement.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, stated that this partnership with BPCL will accelerate India's journey towards e-mobility.
He also added that this collaboration represents their shared vision of promoting positive change by creating a supportive infrastructure for the growing EV customer base.
With TPEM's insights on EV usage and BPCL's strong nationwide presence, this partnership is sure to bring about significant benefits.
Santosh Kumar, the Executive Director In-charge of Retail at BPCL, shared that their company is making significant progress towards their target of transforming 7,000 traditional retail outlets into energy stations. This initiative is a key part of their overall decarbonisation plan, which prioritizes sustainable efforts.
Kumar also expressed his excitement about collaborating with TPEM, stating that together, they can elevate the electric vehicle (EV) market for both BPCL and TPEM.
