Today, in a momentous occasion, Squadron Leader Manisha Padhi of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been appointed as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Governor of Mizoram.
This marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first woman in India to hold this prestigious position. The appointment was made by Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in a simple yet dignified ceremony at the Raj Bhawan in Aizawl on November 29.
The Governor's office released an official statement, proudly announcing Squadron Leader Padhi's appointment and highlighting her achievement as the first female Indian Armed Forces officer to hold this role.
On November 29, Squadron Leader Padhi officially began her duties and reported to the Governor. She was warmly welcomed by the officers and staff at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.
Squadron Leader Padhi had previously served at various Air Force stations in Bidar, Pune, and Bhatinda. In India, the title of Aide-de-Camp holds great prestige and both current and former aides-de-camp are honored with the post-nominal letters ADC.
The service chiefs, including those of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, typically have three aides-de-camp, while the President has five (three from the Army and one each from the Navy and Air Force). Additionally, there is one honorary aide-de-camp from the Territorial Army.
