Jaipur, Nov 6: In a shocking daylight murder, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, president of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jaipur on Tuesday. The Rajput community outfit staged a dharna in Jaipur and called for a state bandh over the murder of Karni Sena President.
Reports suggest that Sukhdev Gogamedi had been requesting security from the Ashok Gehlot government after receiving multiple death threats from Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
What happened?
Three individuals arrived near his and left a message that they wanted to meet Sukhdev Singh. The security asked Sukhdev and they were allowed inside. They had a conversation for about 10 minutes, during which the individuals shot Sukhdev Singh and killed him. After firing at him the attackers ran away and tried to hijack a car to escape but the driver sped away. Then they snatched a scooter from a rider coming from behind and escaped.
During the exchange of fire, one of the three assailants identified as Naveen Singh Shekhawat was also killed, a security guard of Gogamedi was critically injured in the encounter. The entire incident has been captured on CCTV, police said. Soon after the incident police personnel were deployed at the scene and forensic science laboratory teams reached the scene to further investigate into the matter.
Who is Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi?
Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, associated with Lokendra Singh Kalvi’s Shri Rajput Karni Sena, gained prominence for leading protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Padmaavat' and the Anandpal encounter case. Several videos featuring Gogamedi discussing these incidents have also gone viral. Following a disagreement with the group, he later formed his own Karni Sena.
In a shocking development, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang member, Rohit Godara Kapurisar, claimed responsibility for Gogamedi's murder through a Facebook post, as per a HT report.
Expressing dismay over the incident, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated, "I have spoken to the police commissioner and asked him to arrest the accused at the earliest." He emphasized that ensuring the state's safety is a top priority for the upcoming BJP government, which recently triumphed over the ruling Congress in the assembly elections. The BJP is set to take charge soon, and addressing and preventing such crimes will be a key focus for the new administration.
