This news started to surface after a video by Twitter account REACH's UK Chapter was shared on social media. The development takes place at Hamad International Airport.

In the video, foreign exchange operator Travelex, which is one of the market's leading specialist providers of foreign exchange, is seen accepting Indian rupees, dollars, pounds, and euros in Qatar. It is one of the six foreign exchange stores located across the passenger terminal building.

However, as per the thread by the @rajkumar_raju, Travelex is not accepting only 4 currencies, but it offers currency conversion of over 40 plus currencies. According to him, within SAARC nations, Travelex is also supporting the currencies of Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, apart from India.

Besides, it only contained four currencies in the stall structure, mainly because lots of Indians work there and attract them.

It should be noted that the Indian government under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance is trying to make the Indian currency a global currency. Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has permitted banks from 18 countries to open Special Vostro Rupee Accounts (SVRA) and use Indian rupees to settle payments. With that traders now will be able to import goods from other countries by paying in Rupee.

The 18 countries are: Fiji, Botswana, Guyana, Germany, Kenya, Israel, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, New Zealand, Oman, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda and the United Kingdom

Besides, recently, Singer Mika Singh has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make Indian currency acceptable at global level like US dollar. Sharing his experience on Twitter, the singer said he was able to use rupee for shopping at Doha Airport in Qatar. Saluting PM Modi, Mika thanked Indian PM 'for enabling us to use our money like dollars'.
