Bhopal, April 3: In a significant development, the Madhya Pradesh government has renamed Nasrullaganj in Sehore district and will now be known as Bhairunda.

Nasrullaganj changed to Bhairunda
This comes after the state government sent the proposal for the same last year. The Revenue Department issued its notification on Sunday after the permission of the Union Home Ministry. "A proposal to change the name of Nasrullaganj as Bherunda has been sent to the Centre,” Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan told a gathering in Bhopal last year".

It should be noted that Nasrullaganj, now Bhairunda is located in the Budhni Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In February 2022, the MP government changed the name of the Hoshangabad district to Narmadapuram and the name of its Babai town was changed to Makhan Nagar. Babai is the birthplace of renowned poet Makhanlal Chaturvedi. And in November 2021, Bhopal’s Habibganj railway station was renamed after the tribal queen Rani Kamalapati.

State BJP secretary Rajnish Agrawal had claimed that changing the name of Nasrullaganj was an old demand of local citizens.

It is pertinent to mention that assembly polls are due in Madhya Pradesh this year-end.
