Major development! NCERT removes "Mughal history" from textbooks, revises curriculum from the academic year 2023-2024

The National Council of Educational Research and Training, NCERT has revised the Class 12th History curriculum and removed the chapters on Mughal Empire.

New Delhi, April 4: In a major development in Indian education, National Council of Educational Research and Training, NCERT has revised the Class 12th History curriculum and removed the chapters on Mughal Empire. Following this, syllabus of the all the boards including CBSE, UP and other state board which follow NCERT will be changed. NCERT has introduced the rationalised syllabus for 2023-24 acedemic year.
 
NCERT Mughal HIstory 
 
As per the updated curriculum, NCERT has removed the chapters and topics related to ‘Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)’ from history book ‘Themes of Indian History-Part II’.
 
In addition to History, the Class 12th Civics book has also been updated. Chapters such as 'US hegemony in world politics' and 'The Cold War Era' have been removed, while 'Rise of popular movements' and 'Era of one-party dominance' chapters have been removed from the Class 12th 'Politics in Indian since Independence' textbook.
 
 
 
Along with Class 12th, NCERT has also revised the curriculum for classes 10th and 11th by omitting the textbooks. From Class 11th textbook ‘Themes In World History’ chapters like ‘Central Islamic lands’, ‘Confrontation of cultures’ and ‘The Industrial Revolution’ are removed.

From Class 10th textbook ‘Democratic Politics-II’, chaopters on ‘Democracy and diversity’, ‘Popular struggles and movement’, ‘Challenges to democracy’ are dropped.
 
The UP Board of Secondary Education (UP Board) has stated that the syllabus for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th, which follow the NCERT curriculum, will be updated to reflect the recent changes. According to the Uttar Pradesh Board Secretary, Divyakant Shukla, the rationalized syllabus for Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th has been confirmed, and the updated UP Board Syllabus 2023-24 will be made available on the official website.
 
The syllabus for all boards that follow the NCERT curriculum will be revised to align with the recent changes. The books with the rationalized syllabus are now available in the market.
