Kolkata, May 9: The West Bengal government in a notification on Monday (May 8) said that the movie 'The Kerala Story' is "likely to cause a breach of peace" and that it has prohibited the screening of the film to avoid "any incident of hatred or violence to maintain law and order in the state". This comes after, the Trinamool Congress government banned the film. It is important to note that West Bengal is the first state to ban the movie, as the earlier similar update that came in from Tamil Nadu was a decision of the Tamil Nadu Multiplex Association, and not the Stalin-led state government.

It is interesting that the Mamata Banerjee-led regime of West Bengal has justified the ban on the movie stating that it is 'likely to cause a breach of peace' and that the decision has been taken 'to avoid any incident of hatred or violence to maintain law and order in the state'. Soon after the West Bengal state government announced its ban on 'The Kerala Story', twitter was stormed with facts and figures claiming the duplicity of Didi's so-called secular governance.

In a tweet, a user has shared state-wise statistics of violence against women, in which West Bengal has topped, immediately followed with Tamil Nadu; the two states that seem to be insecure of the reality discussed in the movie. While sharing the statistics, the user has quoted, "1,43,102 women went missing in West Bengal and 53,780 women went missing in Tamil Nadu from 2016-2020. These are the same states where ‘The Kerala Story’ is banned or not screened by multiplexes. Of course, hiding the truth and shielding lslamists is more important!"

Although, this is not the only aspect that is being discussed among the masses after the movie's ban in West Bengal. The same user in another tweet has disclosed another fact about Mamata Banerjee's tyranny. West Bengal can assumedly stand on no. 1position when it comes to anti-Hindu violence in the state. The recent incidents of Hindu hatred and violent anti Hindu riots that took place last month, during Ram Navmi & Hanuman Jayanti celebrations speak volume about how incapable the state govt has been to tackle communal violence. And these are only the most recent examples of the case. However, despite of such incidents of communal hatred & violence on a rise in the state to which the TMC govt is responding with utmost incapacity, the state govt thinks one movie will instigate communal violence in the state. This fact itself is not even ironic, rather it's just plain DARK HUMOUR.

The same user has also shared how international media channel 'Bangladesh News 24' that is based in London has supported the ban despite of the fact that it visibly has no gains from either if the movie is screened in the state or not. The user has quoted, "London-based Bangladeshi media hails Mamata Banerjee for banning 'The Kerala Story' in West Bengal. Can’t really decide if she’s really an Indian CM or not."

Another tweet shared a different aspect of the ban, tweeted by Observer & Analyst Anshul Saxena, where he has pointed out how the West Bengal state govt has responded to incidents linked with nationalism compared to the one's where facts about a particular community are revealed. Saxena has quoted in his tweet, "Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali was invited to perform at a concert in West Bengal, despite criticism, just 10 days after Pathankot Air Base attack. But, a film based on ISIS 'The Kerala Story' has been banned in West Bengal. Freedom of Expression works only if it suits their agenda." Clearly there seems no end to Mamata Banerjee's duplicity and TMC's tyranny in West Bengal!
