With Congress leader Rahul Gandhi calling Indian Union Muslim League, a completely secular party and other Congress leaders supporting his statement, let us have a look at how "secular" is this organization.

 

It was the 2nd of May 2003 when a bloody massacre which is not known to many was conspired by radical Islamists at Marad beach, a slum area located in the Kozhikode city of Kerala. This massacre which was pre-planned had led to the death of 8 innocent Hindu fishermen by so-called activists of Leftist and Islamist organizations such as CPI(M), Popular Front of India, and the Indian Union Muslim League.

 

The Hindu fishermen, most of whom had just hauled their daily catch and were resting on the beach, never knew what hit them. Three teams of more than 90 radicals armed with choppers, knives, guns, swords, and clutching coke cans filled with gelatin, climbed out of their fiberglass boats onto the shore. The attackers hurled explosives at 8 unsuspecting Hindu fishermen.

 

The attackers then fled to the local Juma Masjid, where they were surrounded by Muslim women, creating a human chain or barricade, obstructing the police from entering the masjid premises.

 

After altercations with the Muslim women, the officers managed to force their way into the premises and nabbed the attackers. From the mosque, 90 country bombs, 40 knives and other firearms were confiscated by the officers. The rioters were thereby arrested and 69 of them were given life imprisonment for the murder of 8 Hindu fishermen.

 

The dead - Chandran, Dasan, Gopalan, Krishnan, Madhavan, Prajeesh, Pushparaj, Santhosh, were hacked to death in a choreographed storm of flashing swords and machetes. Some had their private organs torn out.

 

And guess what, the entire mainstream media in Kerala did not even care to report this horrifying crime. They were busy highlighting the local people who fled that area. None of the Kerala visual/print media visited the victims’ homes.

 

Now, here comes with the country's so-called secularism! When Hindus die, for everybody's sake, it is always better to be vague about who is responsible or blame both communities as being equally responsible for the violence. Dare if you can blame only Muslims! Here, it was ‘secularism’ that mattered, right?

 

 

However, in the inquiry, representatives of the Indian Union Muslim League were summoned. The massacre of Hindus in Marad was a ‘retaliation’ to the murder of a popular Muslim figure named Aboobakar, who was killed in an altercation with local Hindus. The Muslim League tried to make it look less intensifying by claiming that the massacre of 8 innocent Hindu fishermen was merely a way to ‘avenge’ the death of Aboobakar.

The IUML shamelessly tried to put the blame on RSS and BJP, even though all of the deceased were Hindus except for one assailant who succumbed to accidental injuries by his co-assailants. However, the commission dismissed these claims and held members of Islamist and Leftist organizations responsible for the massacre.

Reports suggest that the Madrasa education system is the main reason behind the riots, and claimed that the hate imparted in Madrasas is the reason behind this by-product of religious clashes, often initiated by Muslims. However, the commission did not take these claims seriously despite it being a genuine concern, and dismissed the claims without forming an enquiry into this claim.

During questioning by the police, the assailants confessed that the attack was to take revenge against the local Hindu population, and was planned with the backing of local Muslim organisations.

69 of the attackers were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of eight Hindu fishermen and most of them were from Indian Union Muslim League!

And Rahul Gandhi still calls Indian Union Muslim League a secular party!
